Brief History

The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Canada were established on April 6, 1992, thus paving the way for steady and mutually beneficial bilateral ties in the political, economic and cultural spheres.

With a view to facilitate friendly relations and provide assistance in traveling and visa related issues the Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan began its work in Toronto in 1997 until the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan was opened in Ottawa in 2008.

In 2012, the year that marked the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Canada, the Embassy of Kazakhstan to Canada moved to a new location at 150 Metcalfe Street, Suite 1603-1604, Ottawa, ON, K2P 1P1.

In 2013, the Embassy received accreditation to Jamaica, Republic of Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

There are many people, in many different demographics, who are interested in actually moving to another country in order to live. Even if you're living in one of the best condos out there, sometimes you just need a change of scenery. Obviously, there will be some overlap in our work and live categories, because most people who want to live abroad will also have to find work in order to support themselves. There is a small percentage of people who choose to live abroad and who do not need to find work; retirees are among these. In fact, many more retirees are choosing to live abroad than at any other time in history. It is important to understand what your options are if you want to make your home in another country, not only in terms of housing but what you can expect legally and based on location. Living abroad can mean a lot of change and it is best to be prepared!
